Things to Do After Your Essex River Cruise This Fall

A cruise on the Essex River is one of the best ways to enjoy fall on the North Shore. But the fun doesn’t have to end once you step off the boat. If you’ve got a little extra time, there are some great spots nearby that make the perfect addition to your day.

Crane Beach & Crane Wildlife Refuge: Just a quick drive over to Ipswich, Crane Beach is a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Wide sandy shoreline, salty air, and some of the best views around. Even when it’s too chilly for swimming, it’s a beautiful place for a walk or even a run when you are feeling it. The Crane Wildlife Refuge stretches beyond the beach with trails through dunes, marshes, and quiet woods, perfect if you want to keep that “out in nature” feeling after being on the river.

Essex Shipbuilding Museum: Right in town, the Essex Shipbuilding Museum is worth a visit. As you might know, Essex has a long history of wooden shipbuilding, and the museum does a great job of bringing that story to life. It’s small, friendly, and gives you a real feel for the town’s roots.

Make a Day of It: Between a river cruise, a beach walk, or a stop at the museum, you can easily turn your outing into a full North Shore Day trip. Fall always flies by, so it’s a great excuse to slow down and soak it all in after you enjoy our scenic

Fall River cruises.
